New law designed to protect and educate dog owners
A state bill requiring pet stores and animal shelters to disclose the health and history of a dog or cat has been signed into law.
Under the new law, pet stores, shelters and control facilities will also have to disclose other information.
This will include the name and address of the breeder, retail price, adoption fees and vaccinations, among other things.
Gov. Quinn (Illinois) signed the bill 8/22/10. He states the information will help to protect consumers before they buy a pet.
Unfortunately, the bill does not go into effect until 2011. Not soon enough but at least it will be a reality.

Too bad they didn’t add a 3 day “cooling off” period to the bill before you could actually take the pooch home. Say “no” to puppy mills!
Always pick up after your dogs!
